Dorris M. Roland was born Oct. 21, 1917 in Crumpton, the daughter of the late Frank Biddle and Anna Florence “Walls.” After retiring from waitress work for most of her life, Mrs. Roland worked at Cresent Farms Nursing Home in Dover, Del. for two years.
Mrs. Roland had been a volunteer for most of her life, including many years at the VA Hospital in Wilmington, Del. Mrs. Roland was very social and made sure she called on all of her friends and family. She was very active in the VFW Post 652 in Millington. She was a member of the Smyrna Clayton Moose Lodge and of Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church, where she had been a member since she was 16. She also is a former Sunday school teacher and Bible school teacher. Mrs. Roland was everyone’s friend and truly enjoyed helping anyone she could.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sammy Dave Roland, in 1980 and one daughter, Mary Louise Karbaum.
She is survived by one son, Frank Mitchell Bush and wife Joyce of Felton; one sister, Frances Lucus; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
