10 hole doc martens TCC wrestling to send six to state
THOMASVILLE Thomas County Central wrestling is on the verge of accomplishing something that hasn’t been done in eight years.
Six Yellow Jackets qualified for the state meet at sectionals on Saturday. The team will be looking to place on the GHSA’s biggest stage for the first time since 2010.
“I had high hopes going in,” Central wrestling coach Matt Tanner said. “I thought everyone I had going up there had a shot to qualify (for state). They all wrestled well. I was proud of them.”
Zion Colson, Will Hopkins,
Brian Beckwith, Amari Pettis and Hadley Jackson will be representing Thomas County in Macon later this week. Nix and Jackson will be making their first trips to state.
Jackson (220 pounds) and Pettis (195) almost placed first in their respective finals matches,
but each ended up finishing second. Hopkins, who is battling a small injury,
finished fourth, while Colston placed fifth. Nix finished sixth.
