He was born Nov. 18, 1940, in Warren, a son of the late Luigi and Pasqualina Gaetani Ciabattoni.
Dr. Ciabattoni graduated magna cum laude in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from John Carroll University. in 1965. Dr. Ciabattoni was a professor of organic chemistry at Brown University, 1965 to 1973. During this period, he was awarded a Senior Fulbright Hays Scholarship and attended the University of Padova in Italy. Dr. Ciabattoni next attended Yale University, 1973 to 1976, where he received his medical degree. He completed his residency at Rhode Island Hospital and was a practicing physician for over 30 years.
Dr. Ciabattoni was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening and cooking. He was known for his famous eggplant meatballs and pasta sauce.
Dr. Ciabattoni was a communicant, greeter and member of the Knights of Columbus of St. Mark Church,
Jamestown, and a communicant of St. Thomas More Parish, Narragansett.
He was an active volunteer of the Jamestown Community Farm. This kind, generous man will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He was the beloved husband of Susan Difilippantonio Ciabattoni.
In addition to his wife, Susan, he is survived by his loving son, Joseph C. Ciabattoni, and his wife, Christine, of Tiverton.
